After using the program for about 2 years, we have seen some amazing results. Our students are happier and parents are more settled... I have seen a major decrease in the number of incidents with students, specifically the number of students I have to discipline. Behavior problems are now really rare. WiseSkills was a great starting point to introduce character education into our school and as a starting program that works great with other programs... Our school uses the same terminology and we are able to have a common language. Our discipline was cut in half from 397 referrals 5 years ago to 200 this last year. --Judy Stansbury, Ness Elementary School, Spokane, WA

Teachers
The beauty of WiseSkills is that it is an interdisciplinary approach to character education. --Blair Browning, 4th grade teacher
The WiseSkills program has helped my class and I to become more aware of how we treat one another. The quotes teach much needed values to the students. Famous people speaking about courage, friendship, honesty, and cooperation allows the children to have heroes! We learn the history of these people and how they have triumphed in small or big ways over their problems. We wrote stories, poems, comics using the quotes. --Maria Koutras, 5th grade teacher
Extremely teacher friendly! Easy to integrate with other subject areas. --Tom Buffet, 6th grade teacher
The service projects were instrumental in helping students learn to appreciate nature and not destroy their own environment. Because we chose park planting as a service project, we incorporated plants and flowers as part of our literature, science, and art assignments. --LaVonda Reed, 2nd grade teacher
I am currently using WiseSkills with our adult offenders... It is the best character education tool have discovered. Thanks so much!! --Cheyenne Emory, Community Alternatives to Prison Program, Knox County Sheriff’s Dept., TN

At first I was somewhat skeptical about the WiseSkills program’s effectiveness, but I found that it generated a lot of in-depth conversation, not only with my son, but around the dinner table with the whole family. --Parent

WiseSkills helped me a lot because I was another boy with a bad attitude--now I am
not bad. I learned not to get in gangs. I learned that we have to
help other people. WiseSkills was a great thing to do. --6th grade student
The quotations taught me how to use my actions to have a good life. The WiseSkills program was the best program we had this year. --5th grade student
I
like to say the character quotes in front of the school. And I like to
find out what they mean. A quote that helped me was to treat a person
the way you want to be treated. --3rd grade Student
Community
Sixth grade students sponsored several wheelchair walks for our elderly residents. They also participated in intergenerational craft projects... Students got to experience an elderly health care center firsthand... They also found that they could make a meaningful contribution to our elderly population and form friendships... The WiseSkills program is a wonderful community-based concept. --Retirement Home Activities Director
Students recited poetry to...day laborers, made sack lunches, and gave them to the workers... The service project allowed students to appreciate all people no matter who they are, where they come from, what they do. WiseSkills instills in them those qualities and characteristics that will enable them to grow up and be responsible and caring adults... I hope educators and parents will see the need and the benefits of this program. --Community Volunteer
