The Middle School Training provides all school staff with a comprehensive orientation to the WiseSkills program, and includes a variety of small group activities where educators work together to plan specific ways to use WiseSkills with students, including using the WiseLives curriculum in advisory periods. The training helps middle schools develop acommon language
of character in order to build a schoolwide culture that models, teaches, and reinforces good character.
Teachers discuss ways to model good character on campus throughout the year and gain simple ideas for teaching healthy choices with brief 10-20 minute activities that highlight a different quotation and role model each week. Teachers also learn practical strategies for integrating each monthly Character Theme into the subject areas they teach and begin to use the WiseSkills
materials as part of their lesson preparations.
After the training, educators understand that teaching character
is not an extra lesson or another program; rather, positive character
underlies everything teachers do and forms the moral foundation for the
subject content they teach. The Middle School Training can be delivered with a LIVE Training, or with the video training that is included in the Middle School Implementation Kit.
