Character Across-the-Curriculum: Elementary School
WiseQuotes Curriculum (Grades 3-5)
The WiseWords Curriculum (Grades K-2) and WiseQuotes Curriculum (Grades 3-5) feature a variety of resources to help elementary teachers integrate character education across-the-curriculum. The curricula can also be used by Character Counts! schools to teach the Six Pillars of Character. Resources include:
• Curriculum Integration Strategies Suggested interdisciplinary ideas for integrating each monthly Character Theme into every subject area: Reading/Language Arts, Social Studies, Math/Science, Arts, Health, and P. E.
• Multicultural Quotations Character quotes from inspiring role models who students may be studying in subject areas. Individuals include authors, historical figures, political leaders, scientists, and more.
• Quotation Activities Reproducible pages with simple writing, research, or art activities around a specific character quote.
• Character Portraits Concise biographies for teachers to read about the personal character of 42 quotation authors.
• Author Index Index of over 150 quotation authors and the specific character qualities where their quote is featured in the curricula. Students may be learning about many of the quotation authors in different subject areas.
